Miola Donahue Laws, widely known as the Laws family matriarch, died at the age of 103, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered forever. Miola Laws’ funeral was conducted at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. Stevie Wonder was among those who paid their condolences during her funeral.

Mrs. Laws, a native of Houston, attended Blackshear primary, one of just three Black primary schools in the city at the time. She also attended Jack Yates High School, where she was recently honored as one of the class of 1937’s matriarchs.

The Laws family was talented in other areas as well, although they are best renowned for their musical abilities. Hubert Laws Jr., an international classical and jazz musician, Eloise Laws-Ivie, an actor and author, Johnny Laws, a veteran and vocalist, Debra Laws, a vocalist and Broadway actor, Blanche Laws-McConnell, a former church music minister and general manager of Angelus-Funeral Home in Los Angeles, and Dr. Donna Y. Laws, a professor, author, and motivational speaker, are all children of Mrs. Laws and

Miola Laws will be sorely missed, and she leaves a large number of friends and loved ones to carry on her legacy.
