According to Essence, this stylist and fashion editor will be included in Target’s second Future Collective line.
Target chose Kahlana Barfield for their inaugural Target Future Collective collection, a first-of-its-kind collaboration with cultural influencers. Barfield’s collection was rapidly sold out! They are now launching their second collection in collaboration with Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, a fashion editor and stylist located in New York City. This collaboration brings her full circle. Target was Karefa-Johnson’s go-to store for the greatest clothes at the best rates when she was younger.
Gabriella Karefa-Johnson’s collection will celebrate women of all sizes while combining her maximalist design approach. She wants to spruce up our outfits with bright colors, abstract designs, and textures.
Karefa-Johnson told Essence, “When I was thinking about the design process with the Target team, they asked, ‘Who are you designing for?'” ‘I’m designing for my mother,’ I explained. I’m creating something for my sister. I’m creating something for my aunt. I’m making something for my closest friend. In this look, I’m creating for the girl on the street, who I want to see going by the Atlantic Avenue Target. I want it to seem broad in terms of adaptability and diversity, with something for everyone.”
Starting January 29th, you’ll be able to shop over 100 apparel items ranging from $10 to $50 online and in-store, with the majority of them priced around $35. This collection will be refreshed three times before spring!
We can’t wait to wear pieces from this new line. Gabby, you’re on your way!
