LeBron James’ Florida A&M shoe collaboration made another step forward with a showing on the feet of an NBA star.
Stanley Johnson of the San Antonio Spurs wore the Nike LeBron 7 Rattlers version on Wednesday.
The shoe not only features a school-inspired colour scheme of black, orange, and dark green, but it also features the Rattlers’ insignia on the heels. The model’s DNA contains collegiate make-up.
The first-ever apparel collaboration between an NBA player and a collegiate program benefited Florida A&M.
When you consider that the deal includes an HBCU sports outfit, the situation becomes even more poignant. All FAMU sports teams will don labelled James/Nike gear, including uniforms and sneakers with the crown insignia, as part of the six-year $3.3 million agreement.
According to Yahoo Sports, Nike will spend $200,000 per year in marketing for the institution under the terms of the deal. It will also provide money to the Rattler Athletic Fund at the institution.
The planned agreement contains a two-year extension option that would provide an extra $1.28 million in retail goods to FAMU’s athletic department until the summer of 2029.
