On December 14-15, members of the California Reparations Task Force convened in Oakland for two days of hearings to debate next actions following the publication of their interim report in June 2022.
Assemblymember Reggie Jones-Sawyer (D-57) is one of two state lawmakers on the Task Force tasked with helping the public comprehend the Task Force’s mission and procedure.
“We are not the deciding authority on the final reparations outcome – the Task Force is a study group that will provide recommendations to the State’s legislative bodies in our final report due by June 30, 2023,” Jones-Sawyer said. “Those recommendations will then be taken up by the Assembly and State Senate for consideration and debate during the 2024 legislative session.”
All Reparation Task Force meetings are available to the public, either in person or online. The public is invited to visit https://oag.ca.gov/ab3121/meetings for more information and to examine the interim report.
