Unfortunately, President Joe Biden’s promise of another billion dollars to protect the lives, democracy, and security of Ukrainians was not a new song. More Americans suffer as a result of the limitless spending, but US aid announced April 21 will pay for “weapons and economic assistance” for Ukraine in its war with Russia.
“The new package includes $800 million in military aid for much-needed heavy artillery, 144,000 rounds of ammunition, and drones for the escalating battle in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region. It adds to the roughly $2.6 billion in military assistance that Biden previously approved, according to the Associated Press.
“Overall, Biden stated that the $6.5 billion in security assistance approved by Congress last month as part of a $13.6 billion package for Ukraine may be ‘exhausted.’ With the latest announcement, Biden has approved about $3.4 billion in military aid since Feb. 24. The overall total provided by Congress also included approximately $6.8 billion in direct economic assistance to care for refugees and provide economic assistance to allies in the region impacted by the war… “The United States expects to accept up to 100,000 Ukrainian refugees,” according to the Associated Press. Democrats and Republicans are united in their support for the policies.
America is addicted to war and is embroiled in a conflict that is being driven by God Himself. This European conflict will eventually usher in the Armageddon War, a final global conflict predicted by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam.
We see a country and its oblivious leaders making bad decisions, rejecting divine guidance from two men who could help her in trouble. According to the Bible, ancient Babylon could have been saved but was not. Despite a nearly 100-year-old divine warning within this country, America, the modern Babylon, is on the same path. The warning: America is fulfilling the prophecy of ancient Egypt, Babylon, and other nations that were destroyed for their evil. Today, God has weighed and targeted America for destruction as a result of her genocide against indigenous peoples here, as well as the enslavement and destruction of our forefathers dragged out of Africa and across the Atlantic.
America must pay for her crimes today, just as other nations did yesterday. America is making the wrong decisions. Instead of atonement and repentance, she chooses aggression and oppression.
If Jesus instructs us to serve the least of these, the poor, the widow, and the orphan, and if righteousness exalts a nation, America’s leaders are pulling the country deeper into the abyss. Today’s suffering in America is enormous, and not everyone wants the country to be preoccupied with Ukraine. The Associated Press reports that 49 percent of Americans polled want the United States to play a minor role in Ukraine.
According to the American Lung Association’s recent “State of the Air” report, “people of color were 61 percent more likely than White people to live in a county with a failing grade for at least one pollutant, and 3.6 times as likely to live in a county with a failing grade for all three pollutants, which means more asthma that can be life threatening in children and adults.”
“Overall, the report finds that 2.1 million more Americans live in counties with unhealthy air than in the previous year’s report, and exposure to deadly particle pollution has worsened. “People of color are also more likely to have one or more chronic conditions that make them more vulnerable to the health effects of air pollution, such as asthma, diabetes, and heart disease,” according to the report.
According to the National Urban League’s analysis of the 2022 State of Black America, the median Black household income was $43,862 compared to $63,823 for Whites. Prostate cancer death rates among Black men have nearly tripled. Black women were nearly 60% more likely than white women to die during childbirth and 31% more likely to die from breast cancer. According to the report, Blacks can expect to live four years less than Whites.
While they were praised in 2020 for “saving American democracy” by defeating Donald Trump’s reelection bid, there has been an all-out war on Black voters. Republican political leaders and activists at the state level are stifling voting rights, and congressional districts in Florida are being redrawn to eliminate, limit, or dilute Black voting areas. So much for a commitment to democracy and defending life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness at home.
While millions of Americans grow older and become homeless, millions of families and young people find themselves unable to afford a basic apartment. “Black, Latino, and Indigenous people who grew up in the 1980s during a recession and high unemployment rates are disproportionately represented among the homeless,” the Associated Press reported. Where are the billions to solve these issues and alleviate human suffering? According to Feeding America, a national network of hunger-relief organizations, “around 85 percent of the 200 food bank network report seeing demand for food assistance increase or stay the same for February compared to the previous month, a 20 percent increase from the previous survey.”
“With emergency declarations coming to an end across the country, those additional pandemic-related benefit allotments are expiring state by state, and another hunger crisis is looming,” Feeding America said. “While the pandemic appears to be receding for the time being, Feeding America expects that demand for food assistance will remain elevated and may grow as people’s expanded assistance goes away. Participants in emergency allotment states will lose an average of $82 per month in SNAP benefits when the Public Health Emergency declaration ends. Participants who are eligible for the minimum SNAP benefits will see their monthly allotments drop from $250 to $20.” Choices are being made, but these choices only serve to exacerbate the disintegration of a once-great nation.
